What Is one belief, insight, or idea that guides your creative process?
One idea that really guides my creative process is to be different or unconventional. I push myself to take ideas further through practice. In that repeated making, experimentation, and iteration, I often find the breakthroughs that define the work.
Can you tell us how you discovered Mixed art and what drew you into it?
I encountered generative art while learning TouchDesigner. While building goal-oriented projects, unexpected “happy accidents” often appeared in the system. These moments sparked my curiosity about how simple rules and code could generate visuals beyond my original intention.
What do you think defines your style or creative approach, and how did you arrive at that identity?
That tension between something unsettling yet intimate really defines my work. Across mediums, I explore emotions I can’t put into words, often adding interactivity as a portal for audiences to enter my inner world.
How does a project usually begin for you? Do you have a creative ritual or structure you follow?
A project usually starts two ways: I either explore a medium or software and discover ideas while experimenting, or I start with an idea and find the right medium. Either way, I iterate within the tool until it can become a proof of concept.
What tools or technologies do you use most, and how do they influence your visual language?
Right now, my go-to tool is TouchDesigner. Its real-time capabilities let me play, experiment, and iterate rapidly, shaping a visual language that’s dynamic, responsive, and immersive. Through it, I explore ideas that evolve as I interact with them.
Do you feel there Is a strong generative art scene? What would you like to see evolve in it
I’m not sure if there’s a fully established generative art scene yet, but it’s definitely a growing community. I’d love to see more focus on the concepts and stories behind the work, so pieces are not only visually striking but also meaningful.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start creating generative art but doesn’t know where to begin?
I’d suggest starting by finding generative artworks you love and seeing what tools those artists use. Then, follow beginner tutorials for those tools and start experimenting. The more you play and make, the more comfortable you’ll get and the faster you’ll find your own approach.
Which artists or creators do you think are doing remarkable work and deserve much more recognition?
@hehe2dart has a really distinctive style and mood in their visuals. @bonnie2.0.0 makes playful, interactive work with the camera. And a big shoutout to @blankensmithing, whose tasteful tools and plugins I love using—they really make exploring interactivity in TouchDesigner more exciting.
